EDUCATION

Play is a vital part of your child's life. When your child starts pre-school he/she will be doing a lot of "playing". This is how young children learn and come to terms with the world around them. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) seven areas of learning which are: Personal social & emotional, Communication and language, Physical,  Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the world,  and Expressive arts and design.

We are very fortunate to have an outside area which we use as often as possible (and in all weathers!). We have our water, soil and sand play in the garden, along with physical and creative projects. The children also take part in planting and scientific experiments.
We have a different role play area every week which includes dressing up.
Creative activities include painting, gluing, play dough, foam, chalks and modelling.
We also encourage the children to do cooking.
Incorporated into our sessions are music, ring games, story time, poetry and rhyme.

FOREST SCHOOL

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve, develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a local woodland environment. Forest school may have added benefits that learning indoors doesn't provide. It endorses children's physical well being by getting them more active and enjoying the fresh air. Similarly it gives children a greater wealth of experiences the outdoors can offer thus instilling a healthier lifestyle. Forest school can increase a child's confidence and self esteem through exploration, problem  solving , and being encouraged to learn how to assess and take appropriate risks depending on their environment.
